Helping Nancy | 04/12/05

I went over to Jack's friend Nancy's house today to help figure out which items of artistic value they might have that FSU would want. Nancy's now-deceased husband, Jimmy, was a professor of music in the '50s when the School of Music was first getting started. He quit when they wouldn't let him have any composition students and stuck him teaching only theory. Yeah, that's terrible.

Nancy is a famous artist in the world of encaustics and has hundreds of them throughout the house. And man, they are indescribably good. Not like that crap I had to use for a picture but...amazing. A section of their house was designed like of like this: / / / with paintings on each slat and a small window in the corner to allow sunlight. It's incredible. I'm going back on Thursday to see some more of the music.
