I hate New Orleans | 08/31/05

Warning: This entry uses strong language and might offend some delicate viewers.

What the hell is going on in New Orleans? Maybe this is just because I haven't had the opportunity to loot anything that I just don't get. You don't have a house, you don't have a car, or any other structure you're currently living in. Yet you're going to steal tons of shit. And put it where? Is there some sort of underwater holding area that only the people that make under $12,000 a year know about and have access to?

Listening to the interviews coming out of New Orleans is painful. I know it's a poor city and this really just emphasizes the difference in the classes. I've probably heard...oh, 100-300 interviews so far since I have either NPR or CNN on all day while I work. When they interview someone poor it goes something like this, "Why haven't they saved me yet? I ain't got water and I ain't got food. I just don't understand why they haven't saved me yet? I've been out here for four days." When they interview someone middle/upper class it goes like this, "I can't believe I didn't get out of here like I was supposed to. I just have to sit and wait it out and hope they get to me soon."

You dumbasses. I realize you can draw the division almost as well between whites and non-whites but there are a couple exceptions with that as the divider when there haven't been any between economic classes. Look. You were given a MANDATORY EVACUATION. What the HELL do you think that means? When was the last time New Orleans had that? You don't live in the Florida Keys and get evacuated bi-weekly. You knew for almost a week that a category five hurricane was going to slam the living bejesus out of your city and you did NOTHING. And now you want me (and all of the rest of us with dry shoes) to have pity on you when you're shooting the police offers and hijacking aid trucks? HELL NO. There are plenty of people in Mississippi and Alabama that didn't get the evacuation order until a couple hours before it hit. They thought it was going to hit you. Those are the people I really feel sorry for--those who were surprised. But not you New Orleans.

You had your chance. I know because I was there on Saturday. Having half a brain when they were considering a volunteer evacation we said, "Gee, they never evacuate New Orleans. Let's get the hell out of here." But not you. You decided you could tough it out and now you're up on your roof. And those of you not on your housetops are doing all of these terrible things to not only YOUR city but YOUR neighbors and the people trying to help YOU. You're shooting the police for Christ's sake. The town is in Martial Law. That means National Guardsmen who want to be safe and warm and dry are going to be out there with military rule. I'll tell you this much, if I'm a guardsman and you pull your Wal-Mart stolen gun on me I'm going to blow your brains out and keep on walking. Sure right now you're more than the police can handle but you think you have a chance against anyone else when the MILITARY IS DECIDING THE RULES? Hell no you don't. You're dead so enjoy your stolen Kenneth Cole jeans while you can bitches.

ANYONE who says that New Orleanians are dumb, lazy, fatasses with no ambition and who are better off after Katrina than before are wrong. I have lived here my entire life and my family from New Orleans has stemmed from generations. We, and many people we know in the city are self-made small bussiness owners or work full-time in hospitals or law firms evacuated the city before Katrina hit and we still lost everything. We feel lucky to have had the means to dust ourselves off and rebuild but we lost friends, family members and priceless family possessions like photographs and antiques that can never be replaced. Imagine having your entire world turn upside down and lose everything you've worked for, and then starting over again in a strange city. New Orleanians are thick-skinned, hard-working people with alot of heart and ambition. For people to generalize the entire lot of New Orleans based on how we were portrayed in the media after the storm is ignorant and lazy. Sure we have crime and corruption but what city doesn't? It doesn't change the fact that there are hardworking, fit, and big-hearted people who would greet you with open arms and a cocktail if you came to visit us. The only people who hate New Orleans are those who haven't given it a chance.

I know it has been over 6 years since Katrina hit this SHITHOLE, but guess what folks?; everything is the same as it was BEFORE Katrina hit!!; If it wasn't for severe financial problems, my mother, and a lot of little things I would have left in 1989 and NEVER would have returned!. This is truly one of the most backward, uncouth, uneducated, low class, nasty places on the face of the entire earth!!!; I am not kidding. Katrina should have put this shithole out of it's misery. Has anyone noticed that the people that like New Orleans are gambling, immoral, uneducated, drunken, sports fanatics, and lust filled fiends?; Yes, from all over the world this black city attracts those kind, and the people who are from here and want to stay fit into that catagory as well; so the next time you hear anyone stick up for this shithole, look for these traits and you WILL find at least one of two them!!

I swear to god i hate new orleans. Half of everybody there is on welfare, they are lazy no good losers who bitch about living in suck a bad city. My advice is move to another state. There are plenty of affordable places with good jobs in quiet cities. If you choose to live in a hell hole that is your choice.
