Studio Meeting: LOST | 03/28/07
Having many Hollywood connections, I was fortunate enough to get a transcript of the writers meeting before last night's Lost episode. Being a supporter of freedom on the internets, I am going to put it online for you today:
ABC Executive: I thought you guys said there were enough new episodes for the rest of the season.
Writer: Yeah, we miscounted so we're trying to write a new episode for tonight.
Exec: Why don't you just air the next one in the series and write a new one at the end.
Writer: Because if the fans are stupid enough to wait eight months between episodes we really just wanted to see if we could get away with airing an episode that we wrote the same day. Kind of like those kids that killed their neighbor just to see if they could do it.
Exec: Well, we tried it with Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives and it didn't work so well.
Writer: But we rule. And we're working from this old Twilight Zone script but, get this, putting it on the island.
Exec: But won't the audience be suspicious when they see an episode that has absolutely nothing to do with the show?
Writer: That's the beauty of it--they're so dumb they'll probably just think it's the smoke monster or something.
Exec: Ooh, the smoke monster. That's my favorite part of the story.
