Saturday: November 20, 2004 - Blogiversary! Blogiversary! Happy Anniversary, you blog! It's no secret that when it comes to sticking with things, I am not one of the best. But I did, I made it a year. Good for me. In celebration of my being so responsible, we'll have a couple of links back to my favorite entries. Please feel free to send me suggestions because God knows there are some things that I missed.

We lost to hated Florida tonight. It was crowded and not very much fun. There were a lot of fights too. And not just UF vs. FSU fights--lots of FSU vs. FSU fights, especially between girls and these old, drunk men. UF outplayed us and they deserved to win. I realize this is blasphemy in these parts but it's true. Sorry.

Time Machine: 01-07-2008 · 01-07-2007 · 01-07-2006 · 01-07-2005 01-07-2008: Ok, if you want to skip this football entry and jump straight to my 2007 Christmas pictures go right ahead. Onto the meat. Now that LSU is the BCS Champion, I am ready to share my thoughts on the season. Since I am the back-to-back Pick 'Em Champion, you must listen to me. First of all, anyone who says the PAC10 is better than or even close to as good as the SEC is retarded. Although I don't root for any SEC teams, I do believe they are hands-down the best conference and FSU would probably go 4-8 there. The ACC is not the worst conference but only because the Big Ten is so bad. FSU could have easily lost last night's game by the same score. For the second year in a row, the Big Ten showed they are an anemic conference with no elite teams. Yes, Ohio State is a good team...but FSU is a good team too. Neither are great, let alone elite but when you play in the Big Ten you've got no one to beat up on you. I laughed out loud last night when Kirk Herbstreit said college fans thought the Big Ten was worse than Conference USA and the MAC. He said he didn't agree with them but it seems plausible to me.

On to FSU. The only thing FSU has to look forward to is another 7-5 season and another visit to the Tidy Bowl to play Directional State University. If there's any bright side, it's that there's not a lot of guys graduating leaving for the NFL. FSU is going to be very average/good for a while. At least FSU fans, while unhappy, admit their (our) team sucks when they do--there is nothing worse than blind fannage. Anyway, I know Bobby said they were "one player" away from a great team but I don't know who that one player could possible be (unless he is the size of an entire o-line). I guess another bright spot is that Drew Weatherford is now the only quarterback and while he's not great at least he's consistently good when he gets protection. Yeah, that's some slim pickings for bright spots.
01-07-2007: Can ANYONE beat me at poker? I'm just kidding--lots of people can (although I can't think of any off-hand). Last night we formally shifted our poker nights from Thursdays to Sundays at 5pm. This will make my week a little sadder but it also opens some time up for all of us to work on dissertations and whatnot.

I won't go into the gory details of the game last night but, just as it did on Thursday, it ended up coming down to me, Chris and Ian with me narrowly knocking them out for the win. In the hopes of many similar entries over the next eight months, here are the stats from last night's game:

    1) Mike (Slayed: Ian, Chris, Jamie, Christen)
    2) Ian
    3) Chris (Slayed: Renee)
    4) Jamie
    5) Christen
    6) Renee
01-07-2006: Oh yeah, on Friday I went out to lunch with Kelly, who recently quit working for Jack after ten long years. She has some good job prospects and I'm really happy for her...even though she only came to poker once. Good luck Kelly! 01-07-2005: There I am, just reading the news, and *bam* I get hit by this picture. There are just so many horrible things, I don't even know where to begin. Apparently he was a greeter at Wal-Mart and then he started distributing this picture when people would walk in. If his plan was to be famous, it totally worked. Not that I always trust the "news" I read from the Drudge Report but it gets millions of hits a day. And when you're picture is on there you know you've hit the big time. My biggest question is: Where are his bits? Tucked? Gross.

My morning went by quickly but my God, Chompy, the afternoon poked. Jamie came over for dinner after work and after we ate I fell asleep. For Christmas I received the card-version of SET. Before I fell asleep Jamie kicked my ass. Big time. Ok, I was a little tired but not tired enough to explain my dismantling at her hands. Seriously, it was pretty humiliating. Oh well. Maybe I can talk her into a rematch today.
