Prairie Home Companion @ Wolftrap | 05/06/08

If you listen to NPR in the DC area then you know A Prairie Home Companion is coming to Wolftrap on Friday, May 23rd. I would like to go and I would like *you* to go with me. If you have any interest in seeing the pre-Whose-Line-Is-It-Anyway style "radio" show in person let me know ASAP. If you don't want to go, but have some nerdy friends who might like to go with other nerds tell them to read this entry so that they too can see A Prairie Home Companion when Garrison Keillor and company come to Wolftrap.

Now, that first paragraph is optimized to hopefully grab some search engine traffic so I might get some friends that way but if you (*you*) want to go (to A Prairie Home Companion at Wolftrap) leave me a comment, call, or email me.

In other news, Garrison Keillor doesn't look anything like how I expected him to. I'm not sure what I was expecting but this (see picture) was not it.

Finally, in the spirit of NPR, if you want *me* to leave your answering machine message, just let me know and I will happily do so.

I had some friends meet Keillor here in Chicago earlier in the year for some book signing. They were all stoked about A Prairie Home Companion. I still have no idea what it is. I hope you find a nerd to go with.

Woah, I listen to a good bit of NPR but this is the first I heard about this! I am a TOTAL nerd, and BU very aptly brought this entry to my attention, and we should discuss! My parents (nerdy-ness runs in the family) went to see him a few years ago.

If you like A Prairie Home Companion, you should check out The Writer's Almanac. It plays every weekday at 6:35pm, but you can also hear the podcast: http://writersalmanac.publicradio.org/

I mean, it plays at 6:35 AM-- its the best way to wake up if you ever have to wake up that early (which I wouldn't wish on anyone).

Mike (Unknown)

There's a 6:35am?

I'm going to get tickets by next Friday so let us officially begin the discussion.

I'm also glad to know I'm not the only huge dork out there with midwestern sensibilities.

I got all excited and then remembered that you have moved to a place where these things actually happen in real life, not just my imagination.

Also I TOTALLY agree about the way G.K. looks. I was completely shocked when I first saw him.

Mike (Unknown)

You need to move to DC--like everyone else. It's just a matter of time so start packing now.
